MANILA, Philippines - During the last quarter of 2010, Ricky Reyes’ charitable project Childhaus became a hot issue that garnered sympathy from celebrities and the public.
Childhaus is a temporary shelter for children inflicted with cancer and other serious ailments and their guardians at the former PCSO Compound in E. Rodriguez Ave. where Quezon Institute is located. Trouble ensued when the PCSO transferred to another venue and served an eviction notice to the Childhaus administration officers. Nini Quezon Avanceña of Quezon Institute has allowed a three-month extension to the shelter. From then on, Ricky has been in search of a relocation site for Childhaus. More people and NGOs offer support to the shelter; the latest is the NATCCO (National Confederation of Cooperatives) whose officers signed with Ricky Reyes Foundation a MOA (memorandum of agreement) recently at Ricky’s residence at Valle Verde 6, Pasig City.
