MANILA, Philippines - The year 2010 has been a very good year for Richard Gutierrez. He hopes for and looks forward to a bigger and better 2011.
Last year, Richard topbilled the top-rating romance-comedy Full House with Heart Evangelista, and co-starred with Claudine Barretto and Anne Curtis in the blockbuster In Your Eyes. He also hosted several environmental docus which merited recognitions here and abroad. Richard led Survivor Philippines Celebrity Edition, shot in Thailand, which became the highest rating show on primetime — and where he found a new love, Solenn Heussaff. That is if rumors are to be believed.
There were problems along the way, but Richard would rather not dwell on them and instead thank the Lord for all the blessings — past, present and future.
For one, he has a Valentine movie, My Valentine Girls, opening nationwide Feb. 9. Richard has four leading ladies in the trilogy tied up in one romantic story: Lovi Poe, Solenn, Rhian Ramos and Eugene Domingo. With child star Jillian Ward playing his sister and cupid of sorts, My Valentine Girls is separately directed by Dominic Zapata, Andoy Ranay and Chris Martinez. It is a joint Regal-GMA Films production.
Richard is also billed Valentine box-office king for making one hit after the other in the month of hearts. My Valentine Girls is his sixth Valentine starrer.
This year marks the return of Captain Barbell on GMA, which promises to be the most ambitious primetime program. Richard has been preparing physically and mentally for the superhero role as he faces new adventures, struggles and romantic conquests.
Richard says he will continue hosting environmental docus as keeping the world clean and green is a lifetime commitment. He is a hands-on host, part of the GMA News and Public Affairs team which conceptualizes and executes the docus.
Richard wishes to write, produce and direct his own movie or TV show. But that will come later than sooner. In the meantime, he concentrates on My Valentine Girls and Captain Barbell.
