Kapasko, Kapuso soup kitchen project

MANILA, Philippines - The home of Serbisyong Totoo opened its doors on Christmas Eve to more than a hundred less privileged children and their guardians to share the warmth of Christmas through Kapasko, Kapuso, this year’s soup kitchen project from 24 Oras and GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Forty-seven children with various medical conditions, 60 Grade 1 students from PAGASA Elementary School and their 60 adult companions had their early noche buena right at the compound of GMA Network. Games, gifts and giveaways abound as the guests were treated to a program led by 24 Oras anchors Mel Tiangco, is also GMAKF’s EVP and COO, and Mike Enriquez with GMA News and Public Affairs personalities Susan Enriquez, Kara David, Tina Panganiban-Perez, Julius Segovia, Claire Delfin, Marisol Abdurahman, Lhar Santiago and Cesar Apolinario. Mark Herras, Ynna Asistio and Francheska Farr also joined in welcoming the guests.

A community service initiative spearheaded by GMA News and GMA Kapuso Foundation, the soup kitchen has become a tradition that dates back to the time of the late Steve Serna of GMA News. Tata Steve or Tats, as Serna is fondly called, cared for and fed street children in Cubao on a regular basis. The soup kitchen has since become a yearly endeavor.
