MANILA, Philippines - Regal Films’ box-office entries to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival — Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love and Shake, Rattle & Roll XI — are now available on DVDs.
The award-winning Mano Po 6 topbilled by Sharon Cuneta dramatizes a mother’s love for her daughter. Filmed with a P70-M budget and given an A-rating by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), the movie garnered seven trophies during the MMFF awards night.
Directed by Joel Lamangan and written by Roy Iglesias, Mano Po 6 boasts a powerhouse cast that includes Christopher de Leon, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Ryan Eigenmann, Ciara Sotto, Zoren Legaspi, Boots Anson-Roa and Kris Aquino in a special role as Sharon’ best friend. Also starring are Nina Jose, JC de Vera, Glaiza de Castro, Nicole Uysiuseng and John Manalo.
Meanwhile, Shake, Rattle and Roll XI is the horror trilogy produced yearly by Regal for the MMFF. Leading the lineup are Ruffa Gutierrez and Zoren Legaspi, who star in the Ukay-Ukay episode, directed by Don Michael Perez.
Lamang Lupa topbills Jennica Garcia, Rayver Cruz, Iya Villania, Mart Escudero, Bangs Garcia and twin brothers Dominic and Felix Roco. Director is Jessel Monteverde. Diablo pairs Maja Salvador and Mark Anthony Fernandez and is directed by Rico Gutierrez.
Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde and producer Roselle Monteverde-Teo are proud about the company’s most recent projects, which both merited critical and box-office acclaim.
“Those who missed the films on the big screen can now watch them on DVDs,” Mother Lily said. “I hope people will patronize the original copies and do not buy pirated ones, so we can all help the local film industry.”
