Meet Mark and Raya, NU Kids on the Rock

MANILA, Philippines - He’s a doctor who would rather be surfing. She’s a model who would rather be talking than walking the ramp. Meet Mark Dimalanta and Raya Mananquil, your newest NU 107 Rock kids.

Dr. Dimalanta has put his stethoscope in storage to become a nomad, chasing waves around the world as a professional free-surfer for the Aloha Boardsports team. The hot dude from Huntington Beach, California perpetually carries a surfboard, plus another gadget: His beloved camera. Mark has been shooting lifestyle images as a photojournalist for local and international publications. He has also photographed, punch for punch, his sports icon Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas. And now this Filipino-American has come back to embrace his true loves: Surfing, photography and the Philippines.

And while Raya perhaps is a more familiar face in Manila, the model/writer/animal rights advocate has another job description to add to her already-loaded faux leather belt: Radio talk show host. She has been in the fashion industry for over a decade having snagged several ad campaigns from local labels, walked the runway in Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong, has hied off across the globe in the quest to learn about holistic healing, and spread the word of vegetarianism as one of PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) spokespersons.

Mark and Raya will debut tomorrow, March 20, on NU 107 Rock’s newest lifestyle program, The Magazine Show from 12 noon to 1 p.m. In their premiere episode, they will chat with swimming champ-actor Enchong Dee and celebrity model Ornussa Cadness.

Every Saturday noon on NU 107 Rock, Mark and Raya will be gabbing about everything from fashion, art, photography, food and sports to health and fitness with guest celebrities, provocateurs and stalwarts talking about their own passions.
