Mga halu-halong hula-hula 2010

The Tiger has roared in. Year 2010 is four days old. How time flies! You blink and when you look again, it’s election time. Let the circus begin!

Meanwhile, without wrapping my head with a turban like you-know-who or shuffling a deck of cards or lovingly fondling a crystal ball, but only reviewing my file of movie mags and tapes of showbiz talk shows (see how easy it is to make showbiz “predictions”), I’m dishing out my traditional “halu-halong hula-hula” for 2010, the Year of the Tiger.

Brace yourselves:

The Wide-Awake Items

• Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez will not yet get married this year (even if Ogie’s ex-wife Michelle van Eimeren has already gotten married to Mark Murrow in Australia November last year).

• Kris Aquino and James Yap will have another LQ (Lovers’ Quarrel) before and after the May elections but, ho-hum, they will kiss and make-up in due time.

• Dr. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho, ehem, “special friendship” will be even stronger as they face more obstacles (though not as seemingly insurmountable as last year’s).

• Ruffa Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz’s “clandestine” romance will be rosier than ever but they will continue to deny it as they did last year. It’s another year of “lying” dangerously.

• ABS-CBN will make an important announcement that will send minor shock waves through not only in that network but through the whole TV industry.

• GMA will initiate major reformatting of some of its shows, led by the Sunday show S.O.P. As the network shakes and rattles, heads will surely roll.

• Rufa Mae Quinto will not marry her “secret lover” even if she brazenly made repeated announcements last year. Maybe the man is not ready to come out in the open.

• Korina Sanchez will go back to TV/radio, her great love (other than husband, Sen./Vice Presidentiable Mar Roxas), after the May elections, “win” or “lose.”

• Vic Sotto and Pia Guanio will not march down the aisle, happy as they are with the way things are going in their connected lives. And neither will Dolphy and Zsa Zsa Padilla. If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

• Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo should expect the stork’s visit.

The Blind Items

More Kapamilya and Kapuso stars will move to TV5. As I was saying, the boundless energy, enthusiasm and drive of new TV5 boss Manny V. Pangilinan are highly-contagious. That’s what industry denizens find attractive. If it’s MVP leading, it must be in the right direction.

A showbiz couple who hasn’t admitted being “on” faces rough sailing as the guy can’t control looking at other girls. He’s “very sexual” (daw!) and he’s not contented with just one (meaning the same) partner.

Several actor-politicians will have a “rude awakening” in the May elections. They will, as expected, cry “Foul!” but their hollow voices will be lost in the political wilderness.

A once top-rated actress will “threaten” to “change channels” but her present employer will not bite her bait so she will remain where she is even if now she’s not the network’s hottest property.

”Russia Greece” and “Jamaica Micronesia” might have to finally make known the beautiful relationship they’ve been carrying on these past few years. What’s wrong with keeping a beautiful thing under wraps, eh, bagay na bagay naman sila?

If she doesn’t take the necessary precautions, a pretty young actress might find herself experiencing morning sickness. Sayang, bigger things pa naman are in store for her.

An estranged couple might reconcile (they have a love child anyway) but another couple is on the brink of splitting-up.

A young actor, already an unwed father, will get a young actress pregnant but he will not marry her. (He’s not the marrying kind, as if you didn’t know!)

A showbiz talk show host might get into legal troubles because of his “reckless” (read: libelous) style of reporting. He often steps on “sensitive” toes, you know.

A popular TV host will make earth-shaking news. No elaboration.

There you are.

Reminder of the year: Put a Tiger in your tank!
