MANILA, Philippines - With the number of recent natural calamities affecting the country, creating a happier Christmas for Filipino children has become an urgent concern. Jollibee, Aga Muhlach and the Jolly Toy Scouts are raring to answer this call again with the 15th year of MaAga ang Pasko. The longest running toy and book donation drive continues to spread Christmas cheer to even more children, especially those affected by recent typhoons.
The recently-launched Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko marks another important milestone as it takes the spirit of sharing and giving to even greater heights with more ways to make kids happy this Christmas.
Introduced last year, the Jolly Toy Scouts was a valuable part of the campaign by helping reinforce its message of sharing in a fun way. More than 15,000 Jolly Toy Scouts from over 30 partner schools signed up last year to lead in collecting donations for needy children.
Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko expects even more volunteers, both young and old. The Jolly Toy Scouts will enjoy a fun way of giving by collecting toys and books, helping clean up and pack gifts, and joining the distribution drives.
Pioneering the effort to involve the youth and young at heart as advocates of MaAga ang Pasko, Aga was honored as a Toy Scout Troop Leader during last year’s campaign.
“Seeing young kids and grown-ups pitching in to make other children happy never fails to brighten my day. The young Jolly Toy Scouts get to really understand the value of sharing and that’s what I want my own kids to learn especially at a young age. I’m proud to be a Jolly Toy Scout myself,” shared Aga.
With more than 1.5 million gifts collected for over a decade, Jollibee MaAga ang Pasko 2009 aims to be an even bigger platform for sharing happiness by collecting an unprecedented number of donations this year.
Jollibee will match every donation with a Jollibee toy, thus doubling the number of gifts to be collected this year.
This year’s MaAga ang Pasko introduces the ADOPT-A-SCHOOL program that encourages schools and institutions to become a partner of a beneficiary school. All toys and books they collect, and corresponding toys to be given by Jollibee to match their collection, will be given to their partner beneficiary school.
MaAga ang Pasko helps schoolchildren affected by the recent natural disasters, as they will become part of the beneficiaries of the toys and books collected. Jollibee and Aga with Jollibee Foundation and Jollibee Franchisees Association will help renovate or construct several classrooms this year particularly in schools severely damaged by Ondoy and Pepeng.
The campaign has tapped over 40 schools nationwide and over 20 partner companies to help spread the Christmas spirit of making children happier during Christmas.
