MANILA, Philippines - Sony Ericsson has launched a campaign to help get street children off the streets and back into schools. The mobile phone maker is supporting the UNICEF Mobile Education and Child Protection Program for Street Children through I-Share Ang Saya. The project features a showcase of communication entertainment possibilities from new phones and a chance to get involved by downloading the campaign’s theme song.
Sony Ericsson commissioned pop rock band Itchyworms to compose a theme that would engage listeners to help the cause. The upbeat and catchy Let’s Be Happy Mga Kids was composed in a matter of weeks. It got the attention of other Sony Music artists who pitched in by freely giving their time and voices to the project.
“We’re very grateful for the talent and energy they gave to produce a song that will be heard throughout the I-Share Ang Saya roadshow across the Philippines with our partner SM Supermalls. Individual performers and band members from Sony Music contributed to create something for the benefit of children they have never met,” said Dennis Manzano, Sony Ericsson GM. “It’s a touching gesture that will give hope to many children and their families this season.”
Featured on the song are the vocals of La Diva, Dino Concepcion of Brownman Revival, Ney Dimaculangan of 6Cyclemind, Juana lead vocalist Jaq Dionisio, Ely Buendía, Luke Mejares, Callalily’s Kean Cipriano, Letter Day Story’s lead singer Dex Yu and Gloc 9. The latter’s mile-a-minute call for social action is one of the song’s highlights.
The music video, which will be airing in popular music channels, captures the artists during the studio recording.
The song is available as a free download at I-Share Ang Saya exhibits in different SM Malls across the country. Experience mobile entertainment with movies, music, games and imaging showcased through the new Sony Ericsson Satio, Aino and Kita mobile phones. Visitors can also learn more about supporting UNICEF programs at the exhibit.
Participating malls are SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, SM Cebu, SM Davao, SM Baguio, SM Pampanga, SM Bacolod, SM Iloilo, SM Naga and SM Megamall. I-Share Ang Saya runs until January 2010.
