MANILA, Philippines - Science fiction and horror-suspense movies have been doing well at the box-office. This month, a local indie film outfit makes its bid to join the big league with Arusi: Sumpa ng Demonyo, a movie about an African demonic power that mercilessly kills its victims.
It stars Kuhdet Honasan, Blumark Roces, Richard Quan, Denis Joaquin, Melissa Mendez and Fellyx Honeyfield and features prosthetics by the multi-awarded Cecille Baun (who has done prosthetics for local and Hollywood movies).
Arusi is the pre-Halloween presentation of Big Dreams Kreations Inc.
The movie deals on how a mysterious African demonic power attacks and controls a Filipino family. It is the story of Chris (Roces), an indie filmmaker married to Jane (Honasan). Their peaceful life is shattered when Jane starts believing their child is an evil spirit. Tormented, she kills their child, thinking that if the child is gone, peace will return to their home and their life. But that, she soon discovers, is farthest from the truth.
The movie is produced and directed by Honeyfield.
