Returning to her Café Bossa roots

MANILA, Philippines - Remember when Sitti Navarro first burst into the music scene with her refreshing Bossa Nova single Para Sa Akin from her Café Bossa album? Since then, Sitti has come out with five albums including a Christmas album reaching gold, platinum and double platinum.

But the Philippines’ Queen of Bossa Nova refuses to be complacent about her success. After wrapping up recording on the first week of May, Sitti is ready to present her sixth album. It tries to recapture the surprising freshness of Sitti’s debut album, Café Bossa, which launched her to fame.

“We tried hard to draw on the raw sound of Café Bossa — to simply go back to the music and interpret the songs in a laidback, carefree way — loyal to the Bossa Nova sound,” Sitti says.

The first new single off the album, Is This Love, will be released this month. The song was penned by the same composers, Andrew Fromm and Keith Follese, who wrote Christian Bautista’s chart-topping single, The Way You Look at Me.
