Kim Chiu's B-day wish: Good health... and more

MANILA, Philippines - She may not look it, but Kim Chiu acts beyond her age when it comes to being responsible in providing for her family. She takes pride in taking care of her siblings and sharing with them whatever fame has given her. And as she marks her 19th birthday today with a grand bash on ABS-CBN’s A.S.A.P., are televiewers about to see a more mature Kim onscreen? Discover Kim’s mature side as she talks about career, love life, family and future plans.

At 19, how ready are you to do mature roles? (Rona Clavacio of Manila)

I’m ready to do any role because I see it as part of my growth as an actress. Darating at darating talaga yung time na I’ll be playing mature roles. In fact in Tayong Dalawa, my character (as Audrey) is mature and I try to shy away from being pa-cute.

There are talks that your perennial screen partner Gerald Anderson will be paired soon with Sarah Geronimo. How do you feel about it? (Elaine Villaluz, Pasig City)

I’ll be sad of course since I am used to having Gerald as partner. Di ko alam kung kaya kong mag-isa or if having a new love team will also click.

What’s the real score between you and Gerald? Do you go out together on a date? (Marilyn Catayna, Pangasinan)

We are MU (Mutual Understanding). He said he likes me and I like him, too, but we don’t have a serious commitment, walang saraduhan. Not now. Gerald told me he is willing to wait. Since we are both busy with work, we don’t go out on dates.

What do you wish for on your birthday? (Aldrin Lagarin, Sta. Mesa)

I wish for good health, more projects to come and to start building my own house (modern Zen) in a 600-sq.m lot I recently bought in Loyola Grand Villas as birthday gift to myself. Hopefully, construction starts in May.

Do you have a plan to continue your studies? (Lourdes Garcia, Bulacan)

Actually I will be taking an exam at DepEd for acceleration because I’m still in my fourth year high school. When I pass the exam, I’d like to take a business course in college.

What do you do for fun or during your very seldom downtime? (Gener Lazaro, Pandacan, Manila)

I’m not fond of night outs or gimmicks, ayoko ng masyadong maingay. I’m just usually in the house with my friends or surfing the Net.

How are you going to celebrate your birthday? (Iris Clarin, Dumaguete)

My siblings will be coming from Cebu so I will bring them to Subic and go shopping so I can buy whatever they like.  — BOT GLORIOSO
