The grand slam winner for the first search for the best Fil-Am band went to New York City-Road Show winner Diablo Royale.
Dubbed as Rock Slam, the search gave way for aspiring Fil-Am bands to show off their talents through their respective music genre in a series of US roadshows, culminating with a Grand Face-Off recently held in Sullivan Hall, New York City.
EGG, a digital media content and applications company, is the group behind Rock Slam. Through its website, www.fliptup.com, participating bands registered on-line and that part of the judging criteria is 40 percent on-line votes.
Rock Slam kicked off with the New York and Washington Roadshows, with bands Diablo Royale and Blackbird Pond winning, respectively.
Following the NY and DC events, Rock Slam went to San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Broadway Studios was the venue for Rock Slam San Francisco. Produced by EGGstreme, BAP Media, Fil-Amusic.com and DuckSick Music, the winning band for San Francisco roadshow was Gahasa.
From Daly City, Gahasa burst into the scene with screaming guitars, heart-pounding bass lines, explosive drum beats, and angst-filled vocals that cut through the air, making noises into heart-stopping music. Together with their scandalous name, the promising young musicians from North California present a sound you won’t forget.
The band KUYyA got the winning performance for the L.A. Roadshow held in Musikahan Restaurant and Karaoke. Rock Slam L.A. roadshow was produced by EGG, BAP Media and Kamote Productions.
