Emilio Garcia is on a high these days. Emilio receives rave reviews for his portrayal of Rufo, the bisexual cop in Walang Kawala. Critics and press people agree that Emilio gave a sterling performance as the corrupt policemen in the Joel Lamangan movie. Never mind if he was just the second choice for the role (Jay Manalo was set to play but backed out at the last minute).
“I’m glad that the moviegoers like my performance,” says Emilio. As early as now, it would not be surprised if Emilio gets a grand slam nomination in next year’s awards. This year, he received three Best Supporting Actor awards (the Urian, the Star and Gawad Tanglaw) for his performance in Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos’ Selda. Emilio will be seen next in Senedy Que’s Dose where he stars opposite Yul Servo. Dose is a film that again deals with homosexuality. Emilio was also recently seen in Manghuhula during the Cine Manila festival. It is directed by Paolo Herras and co-stars Eula Valdez and Glaiza de Castro.
Emilio is set to star next in Joel Lamangan’s Sagrado Pamilia. He is set to leave for the Thesalonniki Film festival next week as Selda is set to compete there, being the first Filipino film to compete in the festival.
