It’s going to be an evening of 3Bs (beauty, body and brawn) when Kuya rolls out the red carpet tomorrow night at 9:30 at the Pinoy Dream Academy Concert Hall to welcome the 13 new housemates for Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Celebrity Edition 2.
This rough description is based on the equally “rough” information direk Lauren Dyogi disclosed at the recent presscon for the show.
Of the 13, two are homegrown/international beauty queens. One is a male commercial and ramp model. Another is a male athlete/extreme sport enthusiast. The rest are babes and hunks plucked from the showbiz and recording industries.
Since PBB is a competition, reality TV fans can also add another B, for brains, because the new boarders of Big Brother are expected to outwit each other to win the televiewers’ sympathy and eventually bring home the Big Winner title.
All of them, however, have to work hard because there’s a big shoe to fill in to win. They have to topple Celebrity Edition One winner Keanna Reeves’ text votes in the finals night. Reeves garnered the highest number of text votes in a single voting, surpassing PBB Season One Nene Tamayo’s votes.
The show’s executives expect the line-up of housemates will make a more dramatic and “action”-packed celebrity edition as they bare their secrets and angst.
Are these celebrities more predisposed to coming-out or telling-all? That’s something the televiewers will look forward to.
What the PBB think-tank can also assure everyone at this moment is that the housemates are in their emotional best. They had to pass a series of psychiatric tests and interviews to convince the screening committee that they are prepared to handle any task or eventuality inside the house.
“It has mainstream celebrities,” replies direk Dyogi when asked how the new Celebrity Edition is different from the previous one. “The research on the housemates is extensive. So, we will get to their level of interaction.”
This time around, the celebrities will be under house arrest for 70 days. There’s automatic immunity participants can aspire for. The innovation is reminiscent of the reality TV show Survivor.
To avoid any speculations on maneuvering votes like the ones people think transpired in Season Two, a representative from SGV will be present every eviction night to make sure the votes are accounted for and valid.
PBB Celebrity Edition 2 airs twice a day at 5:30 p.m. for Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2, Uber!, which will be hosted by PBB Season Two Winner Beatriz Saw, and at 10 p.m. Mariel Rodriguez, Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzalez will host the reality show.
What qualities should the next Celebrity Big Winner have? There are no specific criteria, replies direk Dyogi.
Like last season, basketball player Bruce Quebral made an impressive show in the early part of the competition, but the simple and underrated Beatriz took the lead and emerged victorious towards the end.
Besides, the final arbiter is the televiewers’ perception on who deserves to win.
“Stick to what you believe in,” Beatriz advises the new housemates. “And be yourself.”
