Vicki has found a new love

If you believe Dr. Vicki Belo, 50, her new boyfriend Dr. Hayden Kho, 24 years her junior, is a dream come true.

"I have always dreamed of having a boyfriend who looks like a model," Vicki told Funfare. "Tall, dark and handsome. And I’ve found one."

She’s very much in love, as if for the first time. (With Vicki, I suspect everytime — whatever "it" is — feels like the first time.)

Thus, when Vicki shows up at a public affair with her "dream-come-true" beside her, she doesn’t just walk, she glides and she floats; she doesn’t just glow, she sparkles like a thousand stars in a moonlit summer night; she acts as if she’s Alice in Wonderland.

It was very apparent when she attended the birthday party of GMA executive Wilma Galvante a few Saturdays ago at a Greenhills restaurant. Vicki’s arm latched on to that of Dr. Hayden, who is 100 percent Chinese, as if her "dream-come-true" would vanish into thin air if she as much as loosens her (strangle?)-hold.

In the beginning, the lovers were discreet about it, making friends and other strangers wonder if they were "an item" everytime they were "sighted" here and there, setting off tongues wagging. It must be their way of "conditioning" the gossip-crazy metropolis. Now, the coast is clear and the two are open about their romance and are openly seen in public more often.

What happened to her other love, Joey Santos (of Flawless)?

"We’re the best of friends," said Vicki, "and we will forever be. We’ve talked. Joey isn’t the last person to know; he was the first."

Asked if it’s true that, besides her ageless charm and beauty, she won Dr. Hayden’s heart by showering — nay, "blinding" — him with expensive gifts like a condo unit (where’s the title, honey?) and a plushy car (Benz or, ehem, BMW?), Vicki screamed, "Of course, not! I only lent him the car." She didn’t comment about the condo unit.

Dr. Hayden is himself, like Vicki, a well-off guy, no doubt in the mold of Ashton Kutcher who’s helplessly attracted to older women. If Kutcher has his Demi Moore (ex-wife of Bruce Willis), Vicki blithely flaunts her now very own Dr. Hayden. A May-December match has never been this good, this cozy.

Did Vicki meet Dr. Hayden inside a cubicle of her now-even-more-famous clinic?

In a way, yes. But then again, no. Anyway, not in the manner that some people meet — and match — in such a cramped space.

In the latest issue of Lifestyle Asia, Vicki finally puts everything in black-and-white.

"He (Dr. Hayden) came to the clinic every day," Vicki told Lifestyle Asia. "He would give me chocolates and flowers, but I thought they were gifts from a student to a mentor. I asked my friends, ‘What do you think?’ And they would say, ‘Even if he liked you, he wouldn’t do anything. He’d be intimidated. You’re Dr. Vicki Belo!’"

But Dr. Hayden wasn’t intimidated. He bared his heart — and, later, other things besides — and so did Vicki. They matched. So what were they waiting for?

"I feel so lucky, I don’t feel the age gap," Vicki told Lifestyle Asia further. "I’m young. He’s mature. He makes me laugh. There’s so much to discover. He’s still very active. We watch movies. We play squash. We go out with his friends. Our Chinese zodiac signs are both monkey. We’re always learning, taking classes and reading Deepak Chopra. We meditate. We chant. We text each other our words for the day. We expand our vocabulary."

Ah, love! Hahamakin ang agwat ng edad masunod ka lamang!

Vicki has two children from a previous marriage (to Atom Henares who, like Joey Santos, remains Vicki’s good friend) — Quark, 26, a film director; and Cristalle, 23, who helps Vicki run her Belo Medical Group.

When Vicki asked Quark for "permission," Quark said, "As long as he’s older than me!"

Shoot! Dr. Hayden is six months older than Quark.

Will this fairy-tale romance end happily ever after?

(Note: For the whole story on Dr. Vicki Belo, including her painful discovery that she’s an adopted daughter and other interesting/intriguing chapters of her checkered life, try to get a copy of the March 2007 issue of Lifestyle Asia — if Vicki hasn’t yet bought all copies... for distribution to friends?)
Geryk Genaskey for Angeles vice mayor
Add Councilor Jericho Aguas, a.k.a. Geryk Genaskey, to the growing list of actors running in this May’s election.

"Yes, Geryk is running for vice mayor of Angeles City," his wife, Isabel Granada (with whom Geryk has a son) confirmed to Funfare. "Geryk feels that he can serve the Angeleños better if he’s in a higher position."

Geryk’s campaign jingle was composed by Chuckie Dreyfus, Isabel’s former love teammate.

Geryk is the grandson of singer Rudy Genaskey who’s now based in the US.

Also from Isabel, Funfare learned that she and Geryk are co-starring with Paolo Ballesteros and newcomer Rafael Nanquil in a sci-fi indie film entitled Xenoa, directed by Sean Lim.

In the story, following the hostile takeover of Xenoa by Zephyr, Queen La’ian, ruler of the triple-star Xenoan system, seeks refuge on Earth where she gives birth to the heirs of the Xenoan throne — Zeus played by Paolo, Drix by Rafael and Eli by Isabel. Geryk plays Dennis, her loyal guard who, unknown to Eli, was sent by Queen La’ian to protect her.

Isabel herself was asked to run for councilor but she begged off.

"Only one politician in the family at a time," she said.
What’s up?
• Fr. Joey Faller will have a healing Mass tomorrow, March 23, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the seventh-floor conference room of the Metropolitan Hospital, Masangkay St., Sta. Cruz, Manila. Everyone is invited.

• From Funfare’s "other beauty expert" Celso de Guzman Caparas: Do you know why people say, "God bless you!" when you sneeze? It’s because your heart stops for a millisecond when you do.

• From Dindi Gallardo, 1993 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe:

Dearest Ricky,

Greetings from snowy New York City!

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I got a kick out of your article the other day about the Miss Doll Universe. It was quite strange and flattering to know that someone thought of resurrecting me after almost 15 years and my doll won. What a nice birthday gift. Take care and regards to everybody out there.
