Sheryn places 2nd in 2004 Voice of Asia tilt

Star Records recording artist Sheryn Regis bagged the second prize in the recently-concluded Voice of Asia 2004, besting 14 other contenders from different nations. This is Regis’ first international competition emerging in the Top 3 is a feat that her Star Records and ABS-CBN family is very proud of.

The competition which has three phases covering three nights was held in Kazakstan (Russia) from Aug.6 to 9. It is one of the most prestigious singing competitions since 1990, participated in by professional and veteran international performers

Regis won $3000 and a trophy. She also emerged as the top favorite from the on-line voting, garnering as much as 85 percent of the votes with the rest of the 15 percent divided among the other participants. She is among the youngest performers in the competition. The grand prize went to the representative from Romania.

Regis sang the love song Now That I have You ( written by Trina Belamide) for the first night, Sana’y Di Pangarap (by Vehnee Saturno) for the second night and the power ballad Follow Your Dream ( by Vehnee Saturno) for the final night.

Regis was the first- runner up of ABS-CBN’s hit talent search Star In A Million last January. She has launched her debut album under the Star Records Come Out of the Rain whose singles top the rating charts.
