An update on Sharon and other singing ladies

It has been quite a while but Filipino Megastar Sharon Cuneta has at last found time from her very full schedule to return to live performing. The show will be One Night Only a special mini concert that will be held at Onstage in Greenbelt, Makati on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 8:30 p.m. This will not be the usual Sharon concert held at the Araneta Coliseum or the Cuneta stadium. That will come later. This will be a free show, a special treat for her fans and friends who have continually bought her albums, watched her film, TV shows and concerts and who have always been supportive of anything she undertook these past twenty years.

The concert is also a treat for all buyers of Sharon’s latest album Nothing I Want More. Every CD bought from Odyssey music stores starting Aug. 1 is entitled to one ticket to One Night Only. The winning Ladine Roxas
Congratulations to Ladine Roxas. The young talented singer recently won the Grand Prix at the Voice of Asia competition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Russia. She bested 17 contestants from around the world with her rendition of three original compositions by Vehnee Saturno, Pity on Me, Bakit Inibig Pa Kita and Where There is Love.

Things are indeed looking up for Ladine. Her Voice of Asia victory led to a recording contract with the London-based Candid Records for its Big City label and she is now at work on her first international album in Australia. Ladine now shares the same label with renowned jazz artists Stacey Kem and Alex Wilson. The R&B production will be released in the UK in the spring of next year. It will be made up of Ladine’s original works plus songs by other songwriters. The release of the album will be followed by Ladine’s tour of Europe, Asia and the US of A.

Ladine has released an album for Viva Records. She performed Anong DalingSabihin, the theme song from the awardwinning motion picture Bulaklak ng Maynila.
Promising Kyla
You can make Kyla another international winner. The local pop princess with the light and breezy sound, is up for the MTV South East Asia Viewer’s Choice Award. Her music video of the song Hanggang Ngayon is the country’s entry into the regional tilt. This was directed by Lyle Sacris. The winner will be announced in the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards to be held in the US of A early next month. Previous winners from the Philippines were the Eraserheads and Parokya ni Edgar.

Fans of Kyla, all those people who believe she deserves the award and those who want to see another Filipino win the Viewers Choice Award, can help by sending in their votes to MTV Asia. Hanggang Ngayon
is one of three hits that came out of Kyla’s debut album titled Way to Your Heart. The other two are Bring It On and Na’san Ka? The album gave Kyla five nominations at the local MTV Video Music Awards. Hanggang Ngayon won as Best Video and Kyla herself was named Best New Female Artist.
