It's been quite sometime since Smokey Manaloto appeared in a movie since he concentrated on television. Dennis Padilla, too, has been scarce in the movies because he was busy with his work as Caloocan City councilor.
When Basta't Tricycle Driver Sweet Lover was offered to Smokey, he was impressed by its story and the chance the film gave him to work again with German Moreno. In the movie, Smokey plays a rich man's son who pretends to be poor so he will learn the value of money. His character, Glen, is the son of the owner of a big motorcycle assembly plant. Glen becomes the friend of poor tricycle driver Delio (Dennis). Making the movie was a joyous occasion and there never was a dull moment on the set.
"I miss doing movies, so I am grateful to MMG Films for giving me a lead role in Tricycle Driver, Sweet Lover," says Smokey. "I also enjoyed working with everyone on the set."
Dennis, on the other hand says someone as talented in comedy as Smokey should never be wanting in movies.
Dennis' leading lady is Aya Medel who plays a teacher while Hanna Villame is Smokey's love interest.
Basta't Tricycle Driver, Sweet Lover will be shown on May 24. The movie also stars Yoyoy Villame, Yan Ledesma and Patrick Ervie Mateo in an introductory role.
