GREAT scholarship program produces first MS graduates

LOS BAÑOS, Philippines— Three scholars of the Graduate Research and Education Assistanship for Technology (GREAT), a collaborative program of the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) and the DOST Science Education Institute, have completed their Master of Science degrees at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) in academic year 2017-2018.

Renerio Gentallan earned his master’s degree in Plant Genetic Resources Conservation and Management two months ahead of the conclusion of academic year under a PCAARRD-funded project on crop diversity, and received the Academic Achievement Award during the 2018 UPLB Graduate School Hooding and Recognition ceremonies for being among the top MS graduates of UPLB.

Jayson Fumera and Yamina Monica Pinca finished their MS in Agrometeorology degrees under the technical assistance of a DOST-funded project.

GREAT aims to provide both technical and financial support  to qualified graduate students so that they can complete their graduate study program on time and with quality research that is anchored on innovative programs.
