DOH: 1 million kids in Metro Manila inoculated

MANILA, Philippines — Around 1.045 million children in Metro Manila have been vaccinated against measles and rubella, the Department of Health said yesterday.

Following the DOH immunization campaign’s end on June 30, 87.1 percent of the 1.2 million targeted children received the vaccine.

Eight of 17 Metro Manila cities surpassed the 95-percent coverage target to provide strong community protection against measles, the DOH said.

These are Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig and Quezon City.

Quezon City recorded the highest number of vaccinated children at 262,720.

“Parents whose children may have missed their routine immunization schedule should visit the nearest health center,” the DOH said.
