DepEd: Reforms sustained

MANILA, Philippines — Education reforms have been sustained during President Marcos’ term, the Department of Education (DepEd) said yesterday.

Teachers have been promoted, their administrative workload has been reduced and allowances increased, the DepEd said.

Up to 21,441 classrooms have been constructed since July 2022 and 12,487 classrooms are in the procurement stage, the agency added.

The private sector will build its initial share of more than 16,000 classrooms in Luzon, with higher production targets in the Visayas and Mindanao, the DepEd said.

“Every classroom completed, every teacher supported and every child who stays safe in school is another step toward the future,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said.
