Tycoon and philanthropist Washington SyCip passes away at 96
MANILA, Philippines — Renowned Filipino accountant Washington “Wash” SyCip died on Saturday evening, according to the family’s closest friends. He was 96.
His demise was reported by former Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima on his Twitter account.
According to Purisima, SyCip passed away en route to New York.
Rufino Abad of the Insurance Commission, on the other hand, took to Facebook to break the news on SyCip’s death. He said remains of SyCip will remain in New York as hospital documents are still being prepared.

Both Purisima and Abad mourned the death of SyCip, also a known philanthropist.
Business advisory company, Bower Group Asia, also extended its sympathies after the passing of SyCip.

SyCip is is the founder of accounting, tax and auditing firm, SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co in 1946. He also founded international business school Asian Institute of Management.
The accountant-philanthropist just turned 96 last June 30.
