Drug surrenderer shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 38 year-old man who is listed as a drug surrenderer in Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) Station 4 was killed by an unidentified gunman in Sitio Pakpakan , Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City past 6 p.m. Saturday.

Arnel Nacorda, a resident of Sitio Lugsungan, Barangay Basak, sustained several gun shot wounds on his body that led to his instant death.

Senior Police Officer 1 Luisito Ernie of LCPO - Homicide Section said that Nacorda had been sitting in one of the benches in the interior portion of Sitio Pakpakan when an unidentified man got off from a motorcycle few meters away, went towards Nacorda and shot him on the different parts of his body.

Ernie said the suspect fled after committing the crime.

According to the police, the motive of the killing was drug-related , after they found out that the victim was a drug surrenderer.

Nacorda was reported to be a menace in the said area, and usually gets involved in trouble.

Recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells from a 9mm caliber pistol.

Police are conducting a follow-up investigation and are currently searching for the suspect. (FREEMAN)
