Digong nagsisi sa pang-iinsulto kay Obama

MANILA, Philippines – Nanatili ang pagkilala ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa matatag na alyansa ng Pilipinas sa pamahalaan ng Estados Unidos sa kabila ng pagkabigla nito sa pagpupukol ng insulto kay US President Barack Obama bago ito umalis sa Association of Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Summit sa Laos.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na nagkakaisa ang Pilipinas at Estados Unidos na sa pandaigdigang kampanya kontra droga, terorismo, krimen at kahirapan.

“President Duterte explained that the press reports that President Obama would ‘lecture’ him on extrajudicial killings led to his strong comments, which in turn elicited concern. He regrets that his remarks to the press have caused much controversy,” ayon sa DFA.

“While asserting the intent to chart an independent foreign policy and promote closer ties with all nations, he expressed his deep regard and affinity for President Obama and for the enduring partnership between our nations,” giit pa sa statement.

Nabatid na nainsulto si Obama sa pahayag ni Duterte kaya kinansela na ng White House ang nakatakda sana nitong ‘bilateral talks’ sa huli sa Vientiane, Laos.

Nabatid na ang maanghang na pahayag ni Duterte ay matapos itong mapikon sa isang reporter na nagtanong na posibleng mag-lecture si Obama rito sa isyu ng extra judicial killings na nangyayari sa Pilipinas kaugnay ng pinalakas na anti-drug campaign.
