Out of the 7,146 examinees, over 6,600 completed the four-Sunday exams held at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila last November.
In the 2014 Bar exams, a total of 1,126 of 5,984 passed, for a passing rate of 18.82 percent.
Examinees were required to use transparent or see-through bags last year for convenience and security purposes.
The guidelines issued by the SC office of the bar confidant provide that “all the examinees should place their books, bar materials, pens, food, water and other personal items inside transparent or see-through bags, clear zip-lock bags, pouches, lunch boxes, clear water containers and other similar containers.”
The measure was adopted “to further ensure the safety and security of the examinees and Bar personnel.”
Additional security measures were put in place after the grenade explosion that marred the September 2010 Bar exams in De La Salle University in Manila.
In the 2013 Bar exams, the SC reverted back to its previous format, which was predominantly essay-type. The exams would consist of 80 percent essay-type questions and 20 percent multiple-choice questions.
In the two years prior to that, the SC had conducted a predominantly multiple-choice format of Bar exams.
The high court also lifted its five-strike rule in Bar examinations, a policy implemented since 2005 in which examinees who have flunked five times are disqualified from further taking the Bar exams.
The Bar exams covered topics on Political Law, Labor Law, Civil Law, Taxation, Mercantile Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law and Legal and Judicial Ethics.
