CEBU, Philippines - A multi-awarded Cebuano innovator and successful businessman offered his services to the Cebu Provincial government in promoting the province’s products using recycleable and environment-friendly materials.

Businessman Pedro “Pete” Delantar, Jr., happy that the provincial government recognized his accomplishment, in return will share his success to the Cebuanos.

He said he will help make Capitol a show window of recycleable and eco-friendly materials.

Delantar told Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale that he is willing to help the provincial government in promoting Cebu’s products using environment-friendly materials.

According to Delantar, most of the materials he used in his export business come from the different barangays, and unknown to others are in demand in United States, Japan and other foreign countries.

Delantar said he hired a number of employees presently working at his factory in Barangay Cogon in Compostela town.

He said his business does not only promote Cebu but also provide alternative livelihood to the residents of the different barangays.

The Cebu Provincial Board has passed a resolution commending Delantar for winning the “Tuklas Award” in the Department of Science and Technology 2014 National Invention Contest and Exhibit.

The Municipal Government of Compostela also recognized Delantar’s success as a Cebuano innovator.

Provincial Board Members Arleigh Sitoy and Miguel Almendras Magpale welcomed Delantar’s offer.

The winning invention of Delantar was a molded coarse particle product with cast paper based reinforcement, basically a decorative fixture that used castaway materials from furniture factories.

The contest was held during the recently concluded National Science and Technology Week celebrations at the SMX Convention Center where 56 entries were judged.

Delantar, the resolution said, is truly a pride of the people of Compostela, province of Cebu and the pride of the Filipinos.

He is a member of the Filipino Inventor Society and currently president of the Rotary Club of Cebu and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Compostela, Cebu Inc.

He is the chief executive officer of Nature’s Legacy Eximport Inc. based in barangay Cogon in Compostela.  (FREEMAN)
