Bayan to bring impeachment complaints to schools, communities

MANILA, Philippines - The fight for accountability will continue outside Congress, anti-pork barrel group Bayan said Wednesday.
The group issued the statement after the House of Representatives junked the three impeachment complaints against President Benigno Aquino III for the questionable Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
Bayan Secretary General Renato Reyes Jr. said those lawmakers who voted against the impeachment were those also involved in the DAP and priority development assistance fund releases.
"The biggest injustice is that Aquino allies who benefited from DAP killed the impeachment to defend their pork barrel benefactor in Malacañang. The injustice is that they sought to protect the president in order to preserve a rotten system of patronage and corruption," Reyes said.
With the impeachment complaints junked in Congress, Reyes said they will bring the contents of the cases against the president to the grassroots.
"We now bring the contents of the impeachment complaint to the people, in the schools and communities," he added.
Bayan is one of the signatories in one of the impeachment cases filed against the president.
