Ex-agribusiness firm worker tagged in missing cocaine bricks

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Authorities are looking for a former employee of an agribusiness firm believed behind the disappearance of 11 bricks of high-grade cocaine that were part of 53 other bricks recovered from a refrigerated shipping container at a wharf in Barangay Tibungco this city.

Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao, city police chief, said the former employee of Sumifru Philippines Inc. could no longer be located in his residence.

The former employee, according to Danao, was observed to have acted suspiciously when the cocaine bricks were discovered by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and police personnel the other week.

The former employee reportedly forced his way into the Sumifru wharf when he had no business there when the cocaine bricks were found. He also asked to enter the wharf even without any valid reason two months ago.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte earlier had offered P100,000 as reward for any information on each of the 11 missing cocaine bricks.

The recovered cocaine bricks were reportedly worth over P350 million.
