PBA sisimulan na ang annual planning session
SYDNEY--Nakatakdang iprisinta nina PBA commissioner Chito Salud at outgoing chairman Robert Non sa PBA board of governors ang kanilang mga nagawa para sa liga sa nakaraang season sa pagsisimula ng kanilang annual planning session dito sa The Westin Hotel.
Naibalik ng PBA ang bansa sa global basketball map bukod pa sa record sa gate receipts ng higit sa P200 milyon.
Sina incoming chairman Ramon Segismundo ng Meralco, vice chairman Ely Capacio ng Petron Blaze, Rene Pardo ng San Mig Coffee, Patrick Gregorio ng Talk ‘N Text, Erick Arejola ng Globalport, Lito Alvarez ng Air21, Mert Mondragon ng Rain or Shine, Dickie Bachmann ng Alaska Milk at Manny Alvarez ng Barako Bull ay magtutulong para sa pagbalangkas ng mga susunod na plano ng liga sa darating na season.
“Our mandate from the team owners is to make the games more exciting and be responsive to the fans,†wika ni Salud. “We hope to sustain the momentum and maintain the resurgence of Philippine basketball.â€
Ang malaking katanungan ay kung malalampasan nila ang magandang ipinakita sa nakaraang PBA Season 38.
“During the turnover of the chairmanship last year, I was apprehensive as Season 37 was a banner year. I just told everybody then that ‘I’m a fighter and we’ll do it’ without a hint we would surpass what we had achieved in 2011-2012,†sabi ni Non.
“2012-2013 proved to be a bigger hit in terms of gate attendance, gate receipts and TV viewership. And it also happened that the country qualified for the World Cup in the same year,†dagdag pa ni Non. “If there’s one lacking, it’s my team (Barangay Ginebra) failing to win a championship.â€
Natunghayan din ang balanse ng labanan matapos pumasok ang anim na magkakaibang koponan sa PBA Finals sa tatlong conferences.
Nagkampeon ang Talk ‘N Text sa 2013 Philippine Cup laban sa Rain or Shine, inangkin ng Alaska ang Commissioner’s Cup kontra sa Barangay Ginebra at tinalo ng San Mig Coffee ang Petron Blaze para sa Governors’ Cup.
Noong nakaraang taon ay naghari ang Talk ‘N Text, B-Meg (San Mig Coffee) at Rain or Shine.
