PRISAA National Games: Green Lancers, Magis Eagles start campaigns on high note
CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles representing Central Visayas opened their respective campaigns on a high note in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games 2024 at separate venues in Legaspi City, Albay on Monday, July 22.
In the college division played at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation, the Lancers of coach Gary Cortes fired an ominous warning shot to their rivals with their merciless 124-56 obliteration of Caraga Region.
Waxing hot from the get go, the Lancers blitzed through an explosive 30-8 start that left the Region XIII ballers groping for form the rest of the way.
Ahead by a mile at the break, 52-26, the Lancers sustained their relentless offensive in the second half to thrash Caraga by 68 points at the final buzzer.
It was a completely different story though in the secondary level as the Magis Eagles under the guidance of coach Francis Martin Auquico had to pass through some scary moments before squeaking past Region X-Northern Mindanao, 85-83, at the Sagrada Familia covered court. — (FREEMAN)
