William Go honored at AAP Motorsport Awards

CEBU, Philippines —  William John Riley Tiu Go, a 15-year-old Cebuano karting sensation was recognized for his remarkable achievements and as the champion of the 2022 ROK Super Finals in Italy at The Automobile Association Philippines’ 27th Annual Motorsport Awards recently at the World Trade Center Manila International Auto Show.

At a young age, Go was the first Filipino with podium finishes in three European competitions. In 2022, he made history by winning the world championship at the ROK Super Finals in Lonato, Italy where he also received the Pole Position and Fastest Lap awards. He finished second at the FIA Karting Academy in Genk, Belgium, and third at the WSK Euro Series in Lombardia, Italy.

Guided by his personal mantra “The Will to Win”, he emphasized the importance of hard work and determination.  “Winning this award is a testament to the countless hours of practice and our team’s unwavering commitment to the sport. It is a privilege to be able to wave the Philippine flag on a global stage. “

Just recently, Go was awarded The Tony Siddayao Award by the Philippine Sportswriter Association for his achievements in karting, and given a Junior Athletes of the Year medal by Milo at the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Annual Awards Night last March 6. He was also awarded one of the “Outstanding Individuals” by the Cebu City Government at the 86th Cebu City Charter Day last February 24.

He will be heading back to Europe to compete in 10 races this year for the following competitions: WSK Super Masters Series, RGMMC, CIK FIA Euro Champs, CIK FIA, WSK Euro Series and CIK FIA World Champ.

The 27th Annual Motorsport Awards was hosted by The Automobile Association Philippines, the leading organization dedicated to promoting road safety and advancing the Philippine motorsport industry. It is an annual event that celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the Philippine motorsport industry. — b
