Team Cebu City rules PNG swimming event

CEBU, Philippines - Team Cebu City’s swimming team dominated the Philippine National Games-Visayas leg with 27 golds, 14 silvers and 11 bronze medals in Antique, yesterday.

Michael Ichiro Kong got a triple gold in the final day through the 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle events.

Ichiro’s teammate also contributed golds with Fritz Tamara winning the 50m backstroke, Trina Caneda in the 800m freestyle, Shane Allyne Pareja in the 100m breaststroke and Romylin Nina Ignacio in the 200m individual medley.

Caneda also added a silver medal just like Beth May Arellano, Rafel John Dacaldal and Nil Enrico Micarsos.

Six other bets of coach Rolando Alvarez ended their bid with a bronze medal each including Arellano, Ignacio,Dacaldacal, Kirsty Carmel Pardo, Jaymark Buslon, and Elvie Salvo.

With the dominant performance in the Visayas leg, TCC gets more slots for the PNG National finals set next year. (FREEMAN)
