Adlawan, Abellar stamp classes in MS Motosuit race in Calambua

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu's top rider daredevil Jon-Jon Adlawan and Jubenille Abellar shared the limelight after topping their respective divisions in the highly-sucessful fifth leg of the 2014 MS Motosuit Motocross Series billed as the "Calambua Motocross Challenge" last Sunday at the picturesque, yet very challenging Calambua race course in San Remigio town north of Cebu.

Adlawan, a versatile mainstay of Man and Machine Raching Promotions who is also a veteran contender in the Asian racing circuit, jacked up his lead in the race for the coveted 'Rider of the Year' award after lording it over in the pro open category. He bested the ever daring Winsor Famorca of Guimaras for the top spot as Jacob Orbe came out third.

Adlawan's bid for a double championship, however, was foiled after he was upstaged by Abellar in the expert class. It was Scott Remi of Dumaguete City who claimed the third place honors.

In the intermediate battle, Jacob Orbe grabbe the champion's trophy after edging out Remi and JB Bacabac.

Remi and Bacabac though still have something to cheer about. Remi ruled the novice category over Jed Luna of Mount Sion Racing Team  and Denmark Supatan, while Bacabac emerged as the fastest racer in the executive A that saw Arnel Lacnit and Roscel Gungob placing second and third, respectively.

Luna also had a reason to celebrate owing to his twin titles in the beginners production and local enduro. He outsmarted Supatan and Clinton Gualiza in the beginners production, then prevailed over Dongkey Sanchez and Alex Abalo in the local enduro.

James Duroy and Jonathan Cuyos, on the other hand, dominated the executive B and C categories, respectively. Gungob and Nelson Sicad completed the top three finishers in executive B and Rudy Nadela and Jener Sicad in executive C.

A slew of young but promising daredevils led by BJ Pepito of Daanbantayan, Lloyd Abrenica,  Edwin Dilao, and Marie Villafuerte also had a grand time in the action-packed charity event organized by MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornopia and co-presented by Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc.

Pepito hit the highest mark in the mini 55cc followed by Gyles Aguilar and Johndy Buntoyan, while Aberica was the biggest winner in the mini 65cc, with Kimwen Dilao and Travis Reluya winding up second and third. Edwin Dilao reigned supreme in the peewee 50 class after beating Enrique Samador and Travis Reluya, while Villafuerte snared the ladies open crown over Shane Reluya and Kristine Hisoler.

JP Cuesta and JR Gualiza completed the winners' list. Cuesta was the top performer in the open enduro followed by Jed Luna and Dongkey Sanchez, while Gualiza topped the underbone race followed by Allan Cabreros and Raymond Alivio.

During the race that was also made possible by the support of CST Motorcycle Tire, F & FO Motor Parts, RMO Motor Parts,  JCO Motor Parts, New MS Apartelle,Prospeed, Motomaze, Ljun Motor Parts, N Style Motor Parts, Speed-up Motor Parts, Diosdado Navarez, and Lauron Refrigeration and Airconditioning, Yamaha formally launched its top-grade motorbikes – the XTZ 125 and Serow 250. Both are dual sports bikes that boast great rides on city roads and on rough terrain.

The affair was graced by Yamaha Motor Philippines Sales and Marketing Director Kaoru Ogura, Visayas Regional Manager Carlo Monterola,  Marketing Section Manager Ryan Jude Camus, and Marketing Communication Head Jenifer Perey.  Two days before the race proper, Yamaha went to the Calambua Integrated High School for the completion of their classroom. The brand participated in completing the room's brand new pain job, newly-installed windows and doors.
