Servania and Bautista topbill ALA Promotions’ Dubai card

CEBU, Philippines - He has shown a lot of promise in his young career, but the undefeated ALA Boxing Gym stalwart Genesis ‘Azucal’ Servania (24-0, 10KOs) has yet to prove that he is ready for the bigger stage.

That would surely be main goal of Servania as he takes on former two-time world title challenger Jose ‘Matador’ Cabrera (22-4, 10KOs) of Mexico in the main event of ‘Pinoy Pride 27: Duel in Dubai’ on August 29 at the Dubai International Convention Center.

Servania, who was named WBO Asia Pacific ‘Fighter of the Year’, will pratically stake eveything against the battle-tested Cabrera including his WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title in what is by far the most toughest obstacle in his fistic journey.

“Aside from fighting in Dubai, this is also an important fight for him against a top caliber opponent,” said ALA chief trainer Edito Villamor. “Genesis never stopped training in the gym, but we will formally open our training camp this July.”

"We still haven't seen any tapes of Cabrera's fights, but I know he will be a difficult opponent," added Villamor. "But Genesis will be ready."

Still unscathed since he turned pro five years ago, Servania is one of the brightest world title hopefuls from Cebu's fable ALA Gym,

The pride of Bacolod City holds an impressive ring credential, defeating former world champions including Mexican Genaro Garcia, Angky Angkotta, Rafael Concepcion and most recently Venezuelan Alexander Munoz, whom he stopped in the 12 round last March 1 at the Solaire Resort Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.

In the supporting main event, Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista (35-3, 25KOs) hopes to sustain his sizzling comeback  as he battles Mexican Juan Jose ‘Piquet’ Martinez (19-1, 15KOs) in a non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

In the other feature of the surefire blockbuster Dubai card, another unbeaten ALA warrior in ‘King’ Arthur Villanueva (25-0, 14KOs) will slug it out with Nicaraguan Henry ‘El Crespo’ Maldonado (18-3, 13KOs) for the IBF International junior bantamweight crown. (FREEMAN)
