Cebuano triathletes win medals in Hong Kong tilt

CEBU, Philippines - Father and daughter Ritchie and Aaliyah Ricci Mataragnon made a remarkable performance winning medals in the 2013 Hong Kong ITU Triathlon Asian Cup recently at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

Ritchie made a podium finish by winning bronze medal in the men’s 35-59 sprint class, while his daughter Aaliyah Ricci, a student of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus, bagged a silver medal in the female 2000 class.

Mataragnon, a member of the Philippine Youth developmental training pool came out second in 46 minutes and 55 second trailing behind Japan's Athina Zodl (36:08).

Together with Aaliyah Ricci is Ralph Edward So who also secured a bronze medal in boys' division in the fun distance.

Mataragnon and So's made a good decision in joining the fun distance race to avoid a medal shut-out for Cebu after  Chiongbian brothers Yuan and Justin as well as Uy siblings Craig Joshua and Shaia Ruth Uy all failed to get a medal. (FREEMAN)
