SHS-AdC dominates VISSA swimfest

CEBU, Philippines - Host Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu reigned supreme in the 18th VISSA age-group swimming competition dubbed as the 3rd Ateneo Friendship Swim 2012 over the weekend.

The SHS-AdC tankers topped the boys division and placed second in the girls class to accumulate a total of 1,005.5 points.

Maria Montessori International School, which dominated the girls division, came out second overall with 972 points, while the Talisay City Swim Team wound up third with 758 points.

Rounding up the top 11 placers were the University of Bohol (UB) Rockets (549.5), University of  San Carlos (477), Narshall Swim Team (144), Bright Academy (81), Surigao City D’ Water Dragons (77), SHS-Hijas de Jesus (42), Merne Graham Memorial School (35), and Paref-Springdale (29).

The Chiongbian siblings Yuan and Savannah as well as Maxine Sophia Chua spiced up SHS-AdC‘s bid after emerging as the best swimmers in their respective categories.

Yuan was the most bemedalled swimmer in the boys 11-12 class and his sister Savannah in the 6-under. Chua won the award in the girls 9-10 bracket.

The other top swimmers in the two-day event were Surigao’s Emma Rose Bertel in the girls 7-8, Talisay’s Andrei Joshua Intong in the boys 7-8, teammates Psalm Daniel Aquino in the boys 9-10 and Camille Shane Pacabis in the girls 15-above, USC’s Jemima Sembrano in the girls 13-14 and teammate April Goden in the 13-14, and UB’s Patrick Louie Birad in the boys13-14 and Ma. Montessori’s Myle Chi in the boys 15-above.— (FREEMAN)
