Red Durano triathlon on Sunday

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - The final leg of the three-part Congressman Red Durano Triathlon Series will push through this Sunday still at Sands Beach Resort in Danao City.

Organizers have to finish the said event since another triathlon competition is taking place on July 14 in Sogod.

The CRD triathlon series is meant to help local triathletes in their speed work for the Ironman Philippines set this August 5 at Shangri-la's Mactan Island Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

The first leg was held in Carmen early this month while the second leg was held in Danao City last week after organizers had to cancel the Camotes outing due to bad weather.

With the positive turn out of the penultimate leg, former Danao City councilor Oscar "Boying" Rodriguez Jr. decided to have the third and final leg this Sunday also in Danao City.

Aside from that, the SuperTriKids will also be included in the final leg due to the prodding of the young ones and their parents for more triathlon events.

This is also in preparation for the Ironkids on August 4 also in Shangri-la Mactan.

Organizers of the event hope to get more entries for this weekend's action.

The last leg saw 117 entries joining the event and 22 kids in the STK.

The final leg will feature a sprint and mini sprint triathlon, duathlon and the STK.

Participants are assured a more accurate result for the final leg with the Triathlon Association of the Philippines sending a brand new wireless timer display.

Registration is still ongoing at Runnr and at Rudy Project both in Ayala Center-Cebu.  (FREEMAN)
