CEBU, Philippines - Warren Vinan readily made an impact in his return to the mountainbike scene by winning the open division of the cross-country event of the 1st Cambitas Bikefest at the newly-opened Cambitas Bike Park in Brgy.Babag II, this city.
The Boljoon-native Vinan clocked in 45 minutes and 46.80 seconds to oustmart a bunch of little-known but equally daring pedal-pushers.
Jair Buhi-an wound up second with the time of 46:19.91, while I-K Robles took the third place honors in 53:04.63.
In the 35-up-G class, Jonasis Alicaway outpaced Carcueba in just less than a second to snatch the title. Alicaway timed 21:24.90, while Carcueba completed the race in 21:25.57.
Orville Tecson, on the other hand, topped the 35-up class with a 22:39 clocking.
Wendel Valeriano was a far second in 27:29.92, while Juncel Gapay finished third in 29:48.27.
Roger Niere lorded it over in the beginners division with the time of 21:09.82 followed by Christian Cabonita (22:25.40) and Brian Demetria (23:13.02). THE FREEMAN
