Baguio's Omli shines in Cebu City Dartsfest
CEBU, Philippines - The 11th ranked Willy Omli of Baguio City came up with a 5-0 rout of the unheralded Arvy Birones in their best-of-nine finals to clinch the men's open crown of the 4th Cebu City Mayor’s Cup-M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala National Darts Open past midnight yesterday Yayoy’s Grill and Resto Bar.
In the women's division, Charisse Sarmiento of Cagayan de Oro reigned supreme. She advanced into the final round after terminating Cebu's top female darter Anafe Villa, 4-2.
Villa finished at joint third and fourth with the fifth seed Angging Atillo of Davao.
Ian Perez of Robson, the first and only Pinoy World Cup champion, failed to reclaim his glory in the Queen City of the South, but the country's No.1 player still has something to be happy about as he ruled the classified draw triples along with Maasin’s Clark Cabiluna and FDAMDI/MCDS’ Angging Atillo.
The One composed of Jun Bayawa, Andy Villamor, Dixie Ybanez and Bong Gabiana topped the fixed four-person team event after edging out Cebu’s Lupig Sila manned by Roy Laude, Rolly Majorenos, Rommel Bagotayao and Yoko Quillope.
Laude and Quillope placed second in the fixed doubles after bowing to Cagayan’s Bert Lozano and Mark Munoz.
Colonel Salvino Piad of CHEDA Cebu Niños missed the title in the seniors singles after being outsmarted by Manila’s Babin Celso. (FREEMAN)
