Run for Gifted Kids on April 15 By Caecent No-ot Magsumbol

CEBU, Philippines - The Exceptional Children’s Education Center stages the first Run For Gifted Kids on April 15 with the start/finish line at Piazza Elesia in Talamban, this city.

The event hopes to raise funds to support more gifted youngsters.

The organizing body is a non-stock, non-profit educational institution in Cebu City that caters primarily to exceptional and gifted kids through individualized right learning and experiential methodology.

In this center, a maximum class size is 12 with teacher-student ratio of 1:4 and with more funding, more gifted children especially those from families with insufficient funds to enroll in a specialized school will be accommodated.

And since running is one of the well-loved sports in Cebu right now, EC2 together with the Sisters of the Holy Spirit Perpetual Adoration decided to do this fund-raising event.

The event features a 3 and 8-kilometer run plus a special event which is the 1-km adult-child tandem.

Entry fee in the 3-km run is pegged at P250 only and P300 for the 8-km run. Registered entries will get an official shirt, race bib, route map and refreshments during the race.

Entry forms are available at Runnr in Ayala Center-Cebu or at EC2. Registration ends on April 6.

“We believe that through this activity, we will be able to touch the hearts of many, and enjoin them to run to help us raise funds to give scholarships to some gifted kids of families with insufficient resources,” said Luis Quibranza, one of the organizers. - THE FREEMAN
