SHS-Ateneo booters grab 3 titles in CIS Friendship Cup

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu scooped three titles to emerge as the most winningest squad in the 2012 Cebu International School (CIS) Friendship Cup over the weekend at the school's pitch in Brgy. Pit-os, this city.

SHS-Ateneo topped the players 10 category as well as the boys 14 and 17 divisions.

The Ateneans defeated Bright Academy in the players 10 final, 2-0, and edged out the same school, 1-0, for the boys 17 crown.

In the boys 14 championship, SHS-Areneo vanquished Villa del Rio 2 via a 2-0 decision.

It was not all jubilation for SHS-Ateneo though as it lost to Canduman, 1-0, via penalty shootout in the boys 12 finale and to host CIS in the girls 14 class.

CIS actually had a double victory as it also beat Subangdaku FC, 1-0, to clinch the girls 17 tiara.

Subangdaku FC, however, still has something to be proud of as it retained its men’s open title with a 3-1 victory via shootout over KN Ferraren.

On the other hand, the University of San Carlos (USC) ruled the women's open after prevailing over Subangdaku, 2-1.

In the players 8, Team Giusseppe bagged the crown after outsmarting Canduman A, 3-1, while Bright Minds Active Learning Village streaked past Giuseppe by the slimmest of margins, 6-5, to lord it over in players 6 category.

Queen City United outpointed Cebu Union B, 3-2, to top the 40-above division, while Accenture B bested Telectech to dominate the Inter-BPO contest. — (FREEMAN)
