CEBU, Philippines - The Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy blew off the Cebu International School (CIS), 10-1, in the 19-under division of the 14th Aboitiz Cup football tournament yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The outcome of the match was already a foregone conclusion after ANS-Pomeroy zoomed to an imposing 6-0 lead at halftime.
Kurt Ryan Aranguez broke the ice with just two minutes gone by in the game. John Michael Gomora joined ANS-Pomeroy's scoring rampage at the 22nd followed by Rogelio Castillon, Jr. at the 23rd and 33rd and Pedro Agosto Diao at the 35th.
After recharging at the half, ANS-Pomeroy knocked in four more goals courtesy of Gomora on the 45th, Jake Ricaplaza at the 49th and 53rd and Diao at the 55th.
In the other boys 14 action, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Team A buried St. Augustine International School (SAIS), 16-0, while Blessed John XXIII Seminary beat CIS, 3-1, and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 2-1.
DBTC escaped past Canduman Dedon FC, 2-1, while Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)-Mandaue silenced Center for International Education (CIE), 2-0, in the boys 12 class.
In the players 10, DBTC-4 outsmarted DBTC-1, 5-1, Giuseppe dumped CLF, 12-0, Canduman prevailed over SFC, 2-0, while Bright Minds Active Learning Village (BMALV) overpowered CIE, 3-1.
