Cebu City to begin PRISAA medal hunt today

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines  – Bohol may enjoy the so-called 'homecourt advantage',but that doesn't dampen the spirits of Team Cebu City in its campaign to reaffirm its dominance in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Meet, which formally kicked off yesterday. The games, however, are yet to commence this morning in separate venues.

“Our athletes are very eager to maintain their standing and improve their performance. I can say that they are very determined to win in their respective events so they can represent the region in the national finals,” said PRISAA Cebu coordinator Bernard Ricablanca.

Bemedalled tanker Loren Dale Echavez of the University of San Carlos (USC) is expected to lead TCC's gold medal harvest in swimming along with her teammates and swimmers from the University of the Visayas (UV).

Lindley Fran Navaja of the University of Cebu (UC) is the star to watch out for in athletics alongside Dharl Pitogo, Ernesto Ybañez and Irene Baluran.

The Niños are also all set for medal rush in lawn tennis, volleyball, basketball, taekwondo, karatedo, beach volley, badminton, sepak takraw and football.

Cebu will most likely compete against the Boholanos in most of the events as Dumaguete only sent its basketball and taekwondo teams for this multi-sport gathering.  (FREEMAN)
