CEBU, Philippines - Just like what they accomplished last year, Team Cebu City guns for another clean sweep in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Meet set from February 3 to 5 in Tagbilaran City.
Multi-titled trackster Lindley Fran Navaja of the University of Cebu (UC) will lead TCC's charge in athletics along with Dharl Pitogo, Ernesto Ybañez and Irene Baluran, while tankers the University of San Carlos (USC) and University of the Visayas (UV) will compose the swimming team.
In lawn tennis, the Niños could count on the Siso siblings Bernardine, Sallydine and Sally Mae, while UC’s crown paddlers in Elonna Dane Tormis, Jennifer Jacalan and Cindy Babalcon are all set to defend their title in women's table tennis.
Athletes from UC, UV, Southwestern University (SWU) and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will show their stuff in taekwondo and karatedo, while USJ-R, UV and USC will power the Queen City of the South's campaign in badminton, sepak takraw and football.
Edward Ybanez of USPF, Mike Abria and Eleazar Sagarino of UV, Anna Bennova Sabanal and Jera Mae Pacinio of SWU and Apple Eve Saraum of USPF are TCC's bets in beach volley, while Edward Pao, Brian Heruela, Mohammed Robinson, John Auditor and John Aranas of UC will form the core of basketball squad alongside Rene Pacquiao, Eleazar Armacin and Bonifacio Guilena of SWU and Sam Hermosa and Cid Cortes of USC.
Likewise, TCC boasts of a powerhouse cast in volleyball led by CESAFI grandslam champion SWU Lady Cobras and the USC Spiking Warriors.
The top performers of the three-day sports conclave will represent Central Visayas to the 2012 National PRISAA Games slated from April 22 to 28 here in Cebu City. - (THE FREEMAN)
