Colonnade Grand Prix Chess Series on today

CEBU, Philippines - A total of P20,000 in cash prizes are at stake for the winners of the Colonnade Grand Prix Chess Series starting today at the Colonnade Mall along Colon Street, this city.

The three-day event is organized by the Cebu Executives and Professional Chess Association (CEPCA) and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

The champion in the open category will receive P5,000, while the second to fourth will take home P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. The fifth to 10th finishers will receive a consolation prize of P500 each. The best placed player among CEPCA members as well as in the senior citizens, kiddies and ladies categories will pocket P1,000 each.

Registratrion fee is pegged at P150 for the open and P75 for the kiddies and ladies bracket.

Before the competition begins, Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama will formally induct into office the new set of CEPCA officers led by their president Romualdo Muralla, Jr.

The rest include Jun Kidlat (VP External), Fabio Abucejo (VP Internal), Dante Arguelles (secretary), Ele Berciles (treasurer) and Roger Reyes (auditor). The members of the Board of Directors are Jun Olis, Mandy Baria, and Nic-Nic Climaco. (FREEMAN)
