Sharing the road
Although I am very much against closing our roads so bikers, skateboarders and others can use them as their playground, I fully support efforts to make our place more livable by providing areas where we could enjoy such activities.
Bicycle lanes have been proposed, but unfortunately poor planning and the poor conditions of our roads make it difficult to do that.
There are, however, many brave souls who insist on fighting it out for space on our roads with all other vehicles.
I have also noticed that many bikers don’t have a very high regard for safety that many leisurely ride their bicycles occupying one or two lanes not thinking of the others who are also using the road.

How then can the sport develop in our country?
The recent LBC Ronda Pilipinas was proof that there is something to look forward to for our road warriors.
The obstacles would not stop them from training, but our government officials can help by clearing our roads of obstructions.
Citizens, who also contribute to the obstructions, must do their share.
We can all make our places more livable if we care.

The aborted game between the Queen City United Football Club of Cebu and Pachanga FC of Bacolod in the United Football League last Sunday is proof of how much we are still in dire need of fields.
The reason why the game was cancelled was that the University of Makati (UMAK) field was unplayable.
QCU was hoping to get to play as the team already flew of Manila eagerly anticipating its first match, but the Pachanga players were not anymore available when a field was found.
Let’s give Pachanga the benefit of the doubt and the UFL has also already decided that the complaint filed by QCU had no grounds. Yes, just like Philippine football, no grounds.
The UFL has big plans for the sport and this can go around the whole country if we have more fields where games can be properly played.
This is very doable, but again only if people care.
