Duraplas Lite grabs CABC 2nd Mortabond Cup crown

CEBU, Philippines — The Duraplas Lite fended off the Mortabond Premium, 71-68, to emerge as champions of the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 2nd Mortabond Cup at the Benedicto College-Cebu City Campus gym recently.

Mark Bajenting shepherded Lite to title glory with a double-double show of 21 points and 12 rebounds laced with three assists, one steal, and a block.

Carlos Baltar added 15 points, six rebounds and a steal while Jonas Panerio chipped in with 11 markers and five boards for Lite, which staged a spectacular endgame comeback to frustrate Premium.

Lite trailed by 10 points, 52-62, after three quarters but closed the match with a 19-6 blast to turn the tables on the baffled Premium.

Michael Cinco paced Premium with a game-high 23 points on top of three rebounds, one steal, and one assist. Chester Hinagdanan sizzled with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Pido Sanchez scored 11 in a losing cause.

In the battle for third place, Kurt Damandaman fired 20 points with two rebounds and an assist while Jhazriel Jumola posted a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to power Mortaseal to a 78-64 drubbing of EZ Bond.

Jolas Lastimosa and Reddick Palmitos also made their presence felt with a combined 22 points and nine rebounds for Mortaseal.

Kim Rebosura bagged 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists, Jun Villacorta had 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals while Justin Aspacio scattered 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists but their efforts went down the drain for EZ Bond.
