Queen City United FC bares line up for UFL

CEBU, Philippines - The Queen City United Football Club of Cebu announced yesterday its final line up for the United Football League (UFL), which kicks off next weekend in Manila.

The team is composed of players from various Cebu-based clubs but the core of which comprise of players from QCU.

The team will debut on October 9 at the University of Makati field against Pachanga FC. The match is set at 1 p.m.

The Cebuanos are bracketed in group C along with Global FC and Stallions FC.

The line up of QCU is led by goalkeepers Alex Buanghog, Garry Garciano, and Frederick ‘KTec’ Alazas.

The defenders in the roster are Jack Reston, Ronald Mahilum, Benedict ‘Blui’ Arriola, Carlito Abadia, Christian Delam, Yance Menchavez, Niño Zapanta, Ranulfo Colina, and Dave Gerali.

The midfielders are Jan Michael Flores, Martin Bontia, Julius Acre, Josaphat Sacil, Rocky Garciano, Mitsuo Tsunakiri, and Marion Cubelo.

The strikers in the line up are Ariel Cahilig, Epifanio Ynot, Lemar Buansit, Junard Aguilar, Rommel Cuizon, and Rene Menchavez.

The team’s coach is Mario Ceniza with Allan Medalla, Hayato Ayabe, and Dennis Peñalosa as assistants.

Team manager is Engr. Ricky Dakay with team representatives Engr. Glenn Quisido and Raffy Musni.

Pachanga FC is coached by former national team standout Norman Fegidero.

After the October 9 game, QCU is set to face Global FC owned by Dan Palami on October 16 and on the 22nd it will face Stallions FC in its last group match.

The top two teams per group will advance to the round of 16.

The QCU officials recently met with Santi Araneta in Cebu. Araneta of Kaya FC and the UFL offered Dakay’s group a chance to join the country’s premiere league. (FREEMAN)
