Cebu Greats grill Bigz Burger

CEBU, Philippines — Limuel Tampus fired a game-high 20 points with six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block as the Cebu Greats grilled the Marikina Bigz Burger, 87-74, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season 8 last Thursday, July 30, at the FilOil Ecooil Centre in San Juan City.

The Greats trailed 16-18 after the first quarter but retaliated with a 20-9 blast to seize command of the game with a 36-27 edge at halftime.

Cebu stretched its  lead to 15 points, 64-49, and when Marikina pulled within 62-70, Tampus rattled nine points before Al Francis Tamsi hit a booming 3-pointer at the final 3:15 mark to help the Greats preserve a rousing 13-point victory.

Tamsi sank five triples of his 19 points while Mark Meneses and Alvin Baetiong both recorded a double-double.

Meneses chalked up 12 points and 16 rebounds while Baetiong posted 10 points and 11 rebounds for Cebu, which improved to 16-5.

Deo Timajo finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, and six assists while John Ray Alabanza and Jeepy Faundo combined for 27 points but to no avail as the Bigz Burger fell to 7-14.
