CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Carlos (USC) netters bagged two golds in lawn tennis event of the 16th Milo Little Olympics (MLO)-Visayas Regional Finals yesterday at the Alta Vista tennis courts.
USC fended off Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) in the elementary lawn tennis, while the older Carolinians outclassed the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) in the secondary class.
PHL No.2 player in the 10-under division Arthur Craig Pantino spearheaded the elementary boys triumph along with Jan Godfrey Seno, Mark Suson, Karl Alipe and Francis Lambayan.
Palaro gold medalist Fritz Satera, on the other hand, powered USC’s victory with a strong backing from Jermaine Laurel, Jarryd Laurel and Derek Tabotabo.
Bright Academy’s Zethly Mae Alferez, Maimai Bornea, Shasha Bornea and Caitlyn Lyndsay took the elementary girls title after overpowering Bitoon Central School.
On the other hand, USJ-R’s Dasian sisters, Elma and Elgy, Faith Bohol, Joani Yayen Dacua and Precious Corderos secured the women’s secondary tiara against Bright Academy.
USJ-R continued its hot streak after securing the elementary and secondary championship titles in scrabble.
The powerhouse University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters remained on top of the secondary division retaining its 140 points while Abellana National School followed with 81.3 points. USC hurdled is at the third spot with 61.8 markers.
University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) took the fourth place with 45 points, while USJ-R occupied the fifth place with 40 points.
In the elementary category, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu topped the elementary division amassing a total of 59.75 points. Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) has 51.25 points and USC with 49 points.
University of Bohol was at fourth with 45 markers while University of the Visayas-Cebu occupied the fifth spot with 43 points. (FREEMAN)
